Mandatory Water Restrictions
For Municipality of East Hants, N.S.

This will involve the restriction of lawn watering, at-home car washing, pressure washing, and the filling of pools or hot tubs.
The Bulk Water Station is restricted to household essentials, thereby excluding recreational purposes. In the meantime, the East Hants Aquatic Centre is operational and continues to offer free potable water and showers within its standard hours.
In 2025, Nova Scotia experienced its driest summer on record in some areas, including the northwestern Annapolis Valley and southwestern counties such as Digby and northern Yarmouth. Official weather stations, including those in Saint John (New Brunswick), reported a record lowest amount of precipitation since the late 1800s. Many other parts of the province had one of their driest summers, with rainfall totals near or below half of the normal average, resulting in widespread drought, crop struggles, and low well levels.
Although rain is forecasted, it is not expected to substantially change conditions this week, officials urge residents in all other East Hants communities and rural areas to continue conserving water. Cooperation is crucial in maintaining a secure water supply for all.
